Diane is a lifelong seeker of Truth through her explorations in music, psychology, education, and spirituality. As a young adult, she received a B.A. Music Education and Religion at St. Olaf College in Minnesota, traveling to the Middle East and Southern Europe with other students in order to understand the birthplace of several religions. Her early career ventures included a youth and music ministry in a Lutheran church, and music education at a vocational high school for students with learning challenges. Subsequently, she received a Master of Divinity degree from McCormick Theological Seminary, and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago.
She researched many of the new psychotherapies and spiritual teachings emerging from the 1970’s, as well as traditional religious expressions. She discovered in each path an important aspect of a greater “truth.” Moving to California, she continued her studies to receive a teaching credential in Music and Special Education, became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and also completed certification as a Waldorf teacher.
As a therapist, she uses her training in Gestalt therapy, music and sound therapy, mandala, guided imagery, dream work, transformational psychology and other approaches to create her own unique way of working with her clients both in groups and privately. As a teacher, she has taught piano and music theory, and directed a learning center for students needing independent instruction in reading and math. She has also taught parents and teachers interpersonal skills through classes in “Effectiveness Training.” As a spiritual leader, she has taught seminary classes in contemporary spirituality, and led spiritual growth and meditation workshops in churches and wellness centers.
Currently she resides with her husband in Glendale, California, and has a private spiritual counseling practice in Pasadena. She also volunteers at a therapeutic home for girls in the foster care system. The awareness she brings to all of her clients comes from an integration of her experiences in psychology, world religions, music, education, and spirituality. With her husband, an aerospace engineer and fellow explorer, she enjoys discovering new places both within herself and in the ever-changing world of the senses through travel and through exploring great music and art. Bringing the treasures, the gems of wisdom, back home to share with you, is her greatest joy. Even as daily lives become more and more complex, she finds the basic truths of living become simpler, clearer, and easier to understand. This she brings to her work as teacher, counselor, and minister.
